Just checking in

Options

As my Dad says when he calls, "just checking".

I'm still at St. Joseph's medical center.... since Tuesday night.

Had bone scan done. Needle biopsy of right hip.  Consult with  Rad oncologist. Two rads to large lesion in left side of brain.

Feel absolutely weak all afternoons. Don't even want to open eyes. And dizzy. Better in evenings, it seems.

Anyway, surgery Monday to drain and remove part of cyst that is putting pressure on my brain and making me feel so bad.

Neurosurgeon said it's near my left ear, not very deep. Mostly fluid. Take about an hour to remove from behind my ear. Not bad! Not very close to my brain either.

So ready to feel better.

Friday morning had new rad mask made. And mold for leg & pelvis. I think we start rads on Monday.

Got some good news. This A.M. oncologist said chemo later and it won't be as hard as last time. Last time was rough treatment....his words. I don't know how I survived it. Just brutal. So so relived to hear this about chemo.

Please hold good thoughts for my surgery. I'm a bit nervous, but want to get better!

Taking it a moment at a time.

Vicki

    T&P

    Vicki,

It must be rather quiet at this time in the hospital.  I started my cancer treatments with a 12 day (unexpected) stay in the hospital.  I went in for a colonoscopy, endoscopy and PEG insert and it screwed me all up.  I ended up watching TV all night and walking the halls (I could no sleep).

It sounds like things went well so far, I hope they continue to be smooth for you.   I am glad the onc recommends a course of chemo which won’t be as difficult to handle.  I guess you have already started some treatments or are you still in planning phase?

    Wishing you well,

    Matt

So glad they have a plan and wheels are in motion. If it is any consulation, I went thru traditional rads and Cisplatin in 2012,it was really really hard on me. This year I had percision rads at base of skull with virtually no side effects. I am currently on my 3rd session (had 7tx) of chemo w/ erbitux and taxol and it is no where close to first go around. I am pretty much doing all my normal activities. I have tx on Thursdays and a lazy day either Sat. or Sunday of each week, my hair thinned to where I had it cut to an inch and some acne but, like Matt had told me, nothing so embarassing to keep me from going out in public. Do you know what chemo they are going to give you?
