My Dad has cancer metastasized to his bones which originally came from his lungs/pancreas. One doctor said that he has phlegm in the lungs. Is there some way for the phlegm to be excreted somehow?
Usually the body gets rid of it by coughing. he may need to see a pulmonologist for inhalation therapy. In the mean time, if he has an inhaler he should be using it to help increase the lungs ability to breathe a bit deeper. Also, he should be using his incentive spirometer.
