6 down, 6 to go

Haven't been on the board in a while but just wanted everyone to know I"m halfway done with my treatments! Got unhooked on Friday and today I'm starting to feel Abby Normal (Mel Brooks reference) again. Session #5 was terrible with the nausea but this one (6) was pretty mild. Just tired a lot which I'll take. Some neurapathy in the feet but it's been in the 80's here so I've been able to wear flip flops which is nice. My onc seemed to think that the rest of my sessions the symptoms should stay about the same. I sure hope so. I was able to go into work on Thursday with my lovely fanny pack on. Oh, and I have great news. I've been taking vacation for my chemo sessions (50 hours so far) but just found out thru my H/R department that I'll get reimbursed for all my vacation hours and will get paid for all remaining sessions. Don't have to use vacation. Whoo hoo!!!

Cynthia ... What wonderful news and how great to see your
beautiful smile again. I know you are relieved to be halfway through and also to have such good news about your vacation time. Getting used to the fanny pack takes a bit of time but sounds like you are adjusting well. All the best to you. ~ Cynthia

Have you checked out your benefits under the FMLA?Coloncancerblows said:Well to recap, come to find
Well to recap, come to find out I won't get reimbursed for my vacation and will have to use vacation for the rest of my sessions. Stinks but I guess I should be grateful I have vacation to use rather than no pay. Stinking company I work for!!
I am going to post some info on a new post Cynthia. I don't know the size of the company you work for, but maybe the information will help you, or others in a similar situation. You may be utilizing the FMLA already. ~ Best from one of the other Cynthias

Thank you Cynthia. My company is pretty big so FMLA is an option but in order to do that, I have to use up all my vacation first. The way it stands now, I should have enough vacation to last my 6 more sessions.

And it's great that they will be paying you back for the time you've taken off. It's kind of adding insult to injury when you have to use vacation days to do chemo. When this is all over, you should take a nice trip! Hugs~AA
We already have ourAnn,
We already have our vacation booked in September to go to Sedona, Arizona. Absolutely beautiful place there and I can't wait!!
