Lower extremity edema with duodenal cancer?

My hubby has a diagnosis thus far of duodenal cancer.  He has lower leg edema that has been getting worse.  He hasn't had any treatment thus far for his cancer.  Anyone else know anything about this?  I would appreciate any information.  Seems odd that he has this when his labs are so low, ie, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron and hemoglobin are all low.  Thank you.
