Can anyone help me? I have been diagnosed with cervical cancer and I am terrified...I blame myself as I never go to the doctors...I though my form of preventative medicine was not going to them...So a few week ago I had blood in my urine and the rest as they say is history ...My first appointment with the oby-gyn/oncologist is Feb 26...I am 72 I feel fine if it was not for the blood I would never have known...I have not bled since...Sorry I am rambling...I do not know what stage it is yet but I do know I will have to have a full hysterectomy...I have never been in the hospital for anything but the birth of my two daughters...My real issue is I do not want chemo or radiation...Has anyone chose not to do that? |

My mom practices the same
My mom practices the same form ofpreventative medicine. ;)
I am sorry for your diagnosis. I understand your not wanting to go through with radiation and chemo but if the cancer is advanced it is your best bet for cure. Don't get ahead of yourself though. You may be early stage and the hysterectomy be all you need for a cure. Chemo and radiation is not so bad though, if you have to go through with it. Good luck. Let us know if you have any questions. Take care.

tHANK YOU
So sorry, I have not had a chance to get back to you...I have been going in and out of the Hospital meeting different Doctors...Yesterday I had a pet scan to see if it has spread...I will find out the results Monday..I am so scared one minute I cry, then I'm fine, then I feel like I'm going crazy, then I get angry..I will be getting an MRI the 12 and a 20 minue surgery the 13...Unless the results are bad and they may change the whole game plan...Anyway I just wanted to thank you...Is your Mom ok?

Hang in there. Waiting is
Hang in there. Waiting is the worst. Praying for the best for you.
And yes my mother is fine...since she never sees a doctor, there is nothing wrong with her. :)

We all understand what you are going through
Madison,
I think we ALL have felt like we are going crazy, and guess what, it is normal. I didn't want to do the chemo or radiation either, but it wasn't as bad as you think, they have great drugs these days, and you just have to keep a positive attitude. It is hard, none of us will lie to you, but I think you will see what kind of strength you have. In any event, you have friends here you have never met and who know what you are going through.
