Hi - I am undergoing radiation for bone METS. I am finding that I cannot sleep well - even though I am tired. Some of it is related to my mind wandering and thinking too much about the cancer however physically it is hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Has anyone experienced this issue? I am only sleeping about 4 hours each night. I do not want to take any heavy sleeping pills - any suggestions that are more natural? thank you

My Integrative Med MD at
My Integrative Med MD at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center recommended 1/4 - 1/2 tsp ground turmeric in warm whole milk with honey or stevia to sweeten at bedtime. It must be whole milk, as the turmeric needs the fat to be properly absorbed. She also recommended that the milk be heated on the stove, not in the micro. I've had great results with that. -

I had that issue also.1surfermom said:insomnia
I also have trouble sleeping. When I was diagnosed I could not sleep and my onc. nurse suggested tylenol PM it helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. Check with your doctor to see if this could be an option for you. Love Surf
I started taking an Ativan (low dose), it was enough to shut down the brain. It was a lifesaver as I needed the sleep to get through the treatments. I have been on it for 2 years. I don't always need, many nights I fall asleep b4 taking it!
I agree, check with your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Sleep is so important to heal.
Hugs and Prayers,
Carol
