Bartholin Gland Cancer and Lymph Node Involvement

Anyone out there gone through treatment for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Bartholin Gland and Lymph Nodes. I was recently diagnosed and have not started treatment yet. I was told I need a radical vulvectomy and lymph node disection. This is a horrible surgery from what I have read. I am getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion soon. Has anyone gone through treatment for this condition??

My wife has went through this exact cancer this past year. She was dx on October 12, 2011. She had a partial vulvectomy on Novembwr 8, 2011. She had 28 nodes removed in her groin and illiac region of the aorta. Of the 28 glands, 13 were cancerous. She went through 28 IMRT radiation treatments, 9 rounds of cisplatin and three rounds of Xeloda. As of June 15, 2012, her PET CT showed no evidence of disease.
