Help with excess saliva....

My dad had an esophagectomy in January, had a clean CT scan in late June, and has been blessed with a pretty good recovery. Over the last 2 weeks, he has experienced a lot of saliva that sort of muddled his speech at times. He's expecting a call back from his doctor tomorrow, but is there anything that can help him with this? Thanks.
