Because at one time the word CANCER meant a death sentence,we tend to get discouraged knowing we have it. But now-a-days it can be beat.!! So don't think negatively. We all need encouragement for where we are,but you may all live to 90 like I expect to. If I don't, make it that far, so what. Iv'e had a long full life, wether cancer or a mack truck kills me, allit;s going to do is send me to heaven. That's not a bad outcome. So be encouraged, MAME said "life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death." Eat well and enjoy the life you have.

That's how I feel too Danker
We just never know, do we? Cancer is HARD stuff, but you are living, breathing proof that it just might be able to smack it down at any age.

    Maybe apropos maybe not
I suppose this comment could have gone in a different post but since it was encouraging I'll post it here.

During my visit with the onc today he said that my liver and kidney functions are doing "amazingly well" and that if he saw me on the street he'd never believe that I have cancer. I've got my next PET scan next week and if my CEA goes down tomorrow I'll be really looking forward to the results.

    Great News
Glad to hear that you have gotten good news about your liver particularly since I know it was worrying you. The body is an amazing thing!

Prayers for a lower CEA to go along with the other encouraging news.

    Thank you! I am 45...and
Thank you! I am 45...and the prospect of living to 90 would be wonderful. I am trying to keep positive...and not read too much into my diagnosis . I am going after a specialist and am learning how to be strong in this. I am now enjoying some of the little things that i would have previously missed with all of the things that kept me busy before cancer. I am also simplifying...it feels good to clear out some of the excess...wether it is things or things that i previously had put on my plate that i no longer worry about.
