update 4 weeks after bag take down
time is running and so already 4 weeks passed since Thorstens takedown surgery. Time to give an update...
Most or the time he is doing well, although he still has to spend much time on the toilet. After surgery he started with about 20 "visits" a day, now he is down to 4 - 7. Hopefully this will reduce further.
Still the "output" is far away from normal - much too liquid.
Currently he is in rehab and the specialists there confirm that "things take their time" . They propose to test his reaction on different foods to see, if some are better than other. But the things he eats and drinks seem to have not much effect on the texture. Some foods like potatoes and rice slow down the "passage time" but don't change much the "result". So he started to take "Flohsamenschalen" (peels of desert Indianwheat) again and this changed the texture from liquid to more solid-creamy. Still not perfect but better.
At the beginning things were always REALLY URGENT and a few times he even did not make it to the toilet in time. This fortunately also changed. Seems the nerves down there had to learn again to cope with all the signals passing by ;-)
Same to he feeling inside. First the passing of stool at the connection caused some unpleasant and slightly painful feelings. This stopped after a few days.
Well, so far we are contend. We expected much more problems and are happy.
So far for today.
Greetings from sunny Cologne

Happy for Thurston's status
Glad to hear that hubby is doing so well.
It does take some time for the 're-training' and determining which foods are best for bulking up.
I have seen others here comment on banannas, white rice, and white toast as being good for this issue.
Wishing continued good progress with all this.
