My husband had surgery in 2008 with removal of tumor and about 12 inces of colon. He then had 5 weeks raiation. Then he had reocurrence this year with 5 months chemo. Must now have surgery to remove blockage due to radiation scaring. Scans normal, CEA 4 and still going down, however, in October colon was clear above scaring. Biopsy taken a week ago and also in October all negative. The problem is he will have to have surgery to remove this scaring, and we cant be sure there wont be cancer above blockage. Anyone had second surgery with radiation damaged colon. Lots of questions. Of course, I am aware this is not good.

    Hi
I would hope that if the scans are clear that it is not likely that there is cancer above the blockage, unless it is too small to be picked up on the scan.

Hope that all goes well with his surgery and have no more blockage issues.
