We leave in a few minutes to head to the hospital for Jason's last radiation treatment! So glad it's over, hopefully he'll start feeling better soon. He's really struggling with all the mucous.

    Congratulations
    Jason on finishing your RADS today, I actually will get my 1st RAD today. So hopefully 33 RADS from now I can join you and many others on this site that have graduated the 2012 Class of RAD. Hope you get feeling better soon and NED for life.

    Ooo la la!! YES!!
    No matter what else is happening, doing the last rad is a giant relief...no more having to go somewhere eveyday, when you feel like schmidt...

    Congratulations!! I'm SO happy for both of you!! :)

    I hope this will bring quick releif from the mucous, i have heard that you still cook for a couple weeks but the rest will do him lots of good

    be prepared
    for the likelihood that mucous will actually get a little worse for awhile. The "cooking" phase of rad treatment generally is the first couple of weeks after rads complete. It is wonderful to be done with treatement, though it is not a miracle for the blasted side-effects. Congratulations on graduating!

    The nurse today made sure we understood that the next week or two would be the worst for how he feels. We knew that already, but it's still hard to hear. Just want this to be DONE, for real. At least there's no more daily driving and he can just rest.

    Hi Jason,

    Great job, sounds like you are finishing strong. Don’t worry about things (possible) getting worse, you can handle it if you made it this far. Don’t forget to ask for help if anything creeps up.

    Get plenty of rest, no more radiation, YEAH!

    Now it is time to go ring my bell (outside on wall) for you.

    Jason will start feeling better soon :-) Yes, the radiation keeps working for weeks but each and every day I noticed a small improvement. Week one I got the dark skin but no pain with it. Week two I noticed a significant amount of hair loss when I brushed my hair but week 3 that leveled off and of course brought no pain. Week 3 brought a case of thrush but medications helped after just a few days. Week 2 and 3 noted return of energy, some days better than others. After rads completed I noticed even my "bad days" were better than they had been in the past. I know we all experience this in different ways and I hope Jason sees daily improvement.

    Daily improvement would be wonderful. Just to feel better, even a tiny bit, would be huge!

    The end of radiation is a big milestone. No matter what the next couple weeks bring, you've completed a large part of your treatment!

    Congrats, what a relief that iit is over. It took my hubby sometime to get over the mucous and he still is there but minor. He finished in August with the rads. I pray your husband loses the mucous quickly but if he doesn't tell him to not get discouraged as the rads are still working on him.

    Congrats and tell Jason that now that he's done with the treatments it will get better. I had seven weeks of radiation of the neck and after a while I felt like a walking hagfish I had so much mucus!

    Not to be a party pooper....

    But I'm sure mentally he's going to feel much better... Physically, it's going to be more like the 3 - 4 week range before he starts feeling noticeably better..at least consistanly.

    These times are very slow at first, more like weeks and months, definitely not days or weeks.

    But little by little, the good days will be more frequent and the bad less.

    Don't get discouraged, it's much better than still being zapped every day.... Ground Hogs Days.
