One year ago today I heard the dreaded words "you have colon cancer". It has been a year of ups and downs. I found out in February that I had mets to my liver and went from a Stage II to a Stage IV. Started out this year with a tumor marker of 337 and as of 12/23 I am at 1.0; first couple of MRI's showed 30+ lesions across both lobes of my liver and now they are saying they can see 15 lesions, mainly in my right lobe. Started out with Folfox w/Avastin and Neulasta shots and now I am only being treated with Avastin. I feel very fortunate. Many prayers have gone up for me and without this board I don't know how I would have kept my wits about me. I have learned alot of hard lessons from this disease. I am trying to practice "live every day like it's my last" and at times I fall back to the same person I was, in ways that is; I'll NEVER be the person I was again after 1/8/10. I just wanted to say thanks to all who have given me advise, wisdom, encouragement, love, hugs, a shoulder to cry on, strength over the first year in my battle against this crazy, evil disease I will fight every day for the rest of my life. I've tried to make myself analyze certain situations before just opening my mouth...I try now to ask myself "how bad do I want this....do I need this", "is it really that serious", "can I live without it", "what is more important".... I am so grateful that I am starting this year off in a good physical state and pray it will continue. Mentally, I'm sure I will have highs and lows and I will come here to lick my wounds and as always, someone or many will say just what I need to hear to keep going. I just wanted to recognize this day and remember it as one of the most humbling and sobering days I have ever had in my life. I love you all.

My best,

Pam

    W2Go, Pam!
Continued best wishes as you move forward in your journey...I've found that the 1st year looking back is a very reflective one - and one that you will never the same way as the years roll by....for reasons we won't go into today.

Reading your post tonight was a time capsule for me - transporting me back over 6-years to when I was looking at my 1st year out of dx then...

I'm happy for you and continued good luck in your fight - you've done so very well:)

I am glad you are able to
I am glad you are able to celebrate your 1 yr anniversary. It is crazy how much a persons life can be changed by one little word. That is a lot to deal with from going from Stage II to Stage IV and I am sure that was hard to grasp. I pray for many more anniversaries for you

We all never want to hear those words and they are the worst ever. A one year mark means you've had "another" birthday and that is what we are here to celebrate. You're ups and downs are the same. We all come from different backgrounds, degrees, wealth, ages. We are here for you always and never forget that. So glad you are always posting when you can and glad that it is one year later. Celebrate today.

Positive Thoughts for continued Good Response
    Pam,
So happy to hear you are in a good place. We all share in your good feelings at a better place after a year of courage in fighting the fight. Prayers for a continued good response in 2012. Your courage helps us all no matter where we are in our journey.
