I go back to my dr. on Jan. 4th. I was looking at my pathology report online. Too many medical terms that apparently change meaning when followed or are following another term. I get that the two lymph nodes (which I don't recall them telling me they removed) are negative for cancer. But what does the rest of it mean? (A) TOTAL THYROID: Thanks, |

My MDAnderson
MD Anderson patients all have the ability to look at all of their reports, lab work, etc online--you have to set it up using your patient ID number and a password. It's pretty cool--but can be a curse at times as well...

This too
This was also on my report--this is the part that really has me concerned:
*FS/DX: MULTINODULAR GOITER IN LEFT LOBE, FOLLICULAR NEOPLASM, DEFER TO COMPLETE EVALUATION OF
NODULE IN RIGHT LOBE. DB/elk

I am not positive but from my experience your lymph nodes are good, you have a non cancerous goiter so thats good too.. If it is a follicular neoplasm they may remove your left lobe and use pathology to find out for sure. You may be asked to have total thyroid removed as well this is all your drs and your preference. If they leave right thyroid lobe you wont need meds and it should function fine. If they take it all you will need meds but wont have two surgeries in case the first one doesnt get all the "possible" cancer out. My follicular neoplasm was cancer. It was all capsulated so I shouldnt have to have anymore surgery but we shall see. Let us now how it goes!

I've had TT
This was the pathology on my TT. I'm thinking maybe mine was capsulated as well--there is something in the report about a capsule. This is why I shouldn't read the reports before I talk to the dr. LOL
Thanks for the help.
