AFP levels

What could you tell about AFP levels? My dad is undergoing treatment for HCC for over a year now. It is a difficult road that included surgery, RFA, TACE and even more... AFP levels are constantly rising. Interesting that in a month they have changed from 900ng to 2700ng, which is huge, I know. But all doctors say that there is nothing this could come from. There is one small tumor that has undergone TACE and dying, his bones, lungs and stomach are clear. There is a suspicion that it might be due to regeneration in liver and cirrhosis, but who knows. So I wonder what were AFP levels for you?
