Hello everyone,
I haven't posted for awhile. I was in a dark mood for a time. When my CEA tripled from august to october and scan showed progression in my liver, I was about ready to call it quits.I had been on all approved chemos for colon cancer, some of them twice, and the cancer always seemed to find a way around the chemo. I had a long discussion with my onc and she assured me she was not giving up on me and that she needed me to hang in there. She agreed with me that continuing on Folfox or going back to Folfiri was probably not the best solution for me. She had a clinical trial she wanted me to try. I met with folks involved in running the trial got lots of info and decided to give it a try. I just started the trial this past thursday and so far everything is good. No side effects to speak of yet, it's early in the process so only time will tell. The med is a pill that I take daily and every week for the first two cycles of the trial I'm at the treatment center all day. They do hourly blood draws for the first six hours and the every two hours for the remaining time. Makes for a long boring day, but if it at least keeps the cancer stable I will deal with it. My situation hasn't changed much as I'm still inoperable but also still here after two and a half years since dx.
I hope everyone here has a merry and blessed holiday season, and may we all be granted our most fervent christmas wish.
Deb

    Hello Deb
I've missed you. The clinical trial sounds good, at least in the side effect department, and hopefully it will do a LOT of good for you.
I like the sounds of your onc, not giving up on you, that's a good thing, sounds like she's determined and you can't beat that in an onc.
I also think of those doing clinical trials as hero's, look at those that have given us the chemo's that we have now, I thank them and think of them each time I'm hooked up to an IV, shame we never get to hear who they are, so we can say thank you. So thank you Deb, you have mine and many others gratitude.
A few prayers going up for you. Stable isn't too bad is it? I went from NED to stable last onc visit. I'll take it.
Thinking of you hon, and a MERRY Christmas to you and yours.

    Best Wishes:)
Great news, Deb. I am hopeful that the trial will be able to help you. Very proud of you for hanging in there and going to the edge with this treatment. Thank you for helping to open a door that others may walk through one day.

    Have a happy holiday season.

BTW, Arkansas had one heck of a year...ranked pretty high I saw. Enjoy them in the bowl game. Good to see you.

    a good reqon for hope
Sounds like plenty of time for meditation as well, which is healing.
If you believe in miracles then this time of year is the best time to ask. I do ask for my miracle everyday.

    Hugs,
