Colonoscopy

Hello,
I am getting ready to have my first colonoscopy since completing my treatment. I was diagnosed February, 2010 with stage III colorectal cancer with mets to one lymph node. I had a sigmoid colon resection in May 2010. I went through 12 rounds of chemotherapy, which I received biweekly. I completed my chemotherapy on November 4, 2010 and rang the victory bell at the hospital, for I was declared cancer free. Now I have to have the colonoscopy for prevention. I am a bit nervous. Did anyone else feel this way? I thank you in advance for your responses and have a great evening.

Nervous? OMG, I was a wreck.
Nervous? OMG, I was a wreck. BUT, it went fine, the dr. was all smiles and I walked out of there feeling like a weight had been lifted.
Good Luck, I am sure things will be fine.

    Wishing you the Best
    Hello,
I had my colonoscopy and made the joke that it should take half the time since I only have half a colon after my right colon resection. I was told at risk for recurrence but usual spots are lungs or liver so I wasn't too worried. I have a tougher time just before the body scans. It will be over before you know it. Wishing you the best.

    Agree
I also think persons with resected colons should have to use less cleansing prep. I couldn't sell that to my gastroenterologist, and had to drink the whole thing.

Congratulations to you on all you have completed. I finished treatment last May and my first colonoscopy since diagnosis is coming up in January. Yes...I'm nervous about it. I almost want to skip it and go on thinking all is well.

    Hugs to you, Gail

    Hey girl!!

I think we're all wrecks when we have to go back in for that first time! I know I was.

It's all good, but we just need that reassurance. :)
