Hello and happy Friday- Tony and I visited UCLA this week and he is getting set up at the liver cancer center with an amazing Doctor to have liver resection surgery very soon, within the next 10 days. I am a nervous wreck, as I know many of the other wives or caregivers on this board have expressed. I am thankful we have each other though. Well, Tony is calm and happy that he is in the best hands possible. His question is, after resection and recovery, any ideas on typical chemo timeline afterwards. Anyone know typical number of treatments for maintenance? God bless! Xo Alex

    Yay for you!
I am glad you are on the way to surgery. :) I have no idea about how long after the chemo comes but for some reason I THINK it is 12 treatments long. Good luck and keep us posted. Isn't it just like us to be worried like crazy while they are cool as a cucumber. ;) I am glad he is calm though, I will pray that you find a "good place too" it's hard for me when I know a surgery is coming, half of me is nervous for the surgery and half is nervous that something will pop up on scan preventing surgery. God's blessing to you and hubby Alex.

    Wishing for the best
I never had the surgery...just chemo for 2 1/2 years. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery. I think it is around 12 treatments but then everyone is different it seems.

Alex, Stay as busy as possible in these days leading up to the surgery. That pre-surgery anxiety is no fun. Those nasty thoughts keep rearing their ugly heads. Lisa

    Glad to hear
Alex, Iam so glad you found a wonderful surgeon and glad Toni is calm. We have been told that the pathology report determines the chemo schedule. Wishing you strength to get through this tome. It's hard but if Toni feels calm that is huge....Praying for you and your family. Jigs, Teri

    Thanks you for the responses
Thanks you for the responses and support. . If it were to be 12 rounds, I couldn't even tell him that! He would be so bummed. Well at least it's easy to stay busy this time of year to keep my mind off the next few weeks until surgery. Just can't get it out of my mind the several doctors really emphasizing that this is a "major surgery.". Scary!
