Insular Thyroid Cancer

Options
Hi, everyone. I was wondering if anyone else here have been diagnosed with insular thyroid cancer? I was diagnosed with this about 5 years ago and have had 3 RAI treatments. Now my thyroglobulin level is rising. Was 8 in 2010, 11 in 6-2011 and now it is 16. I think I have had my lifetime max of RAI, and I am just wondering what is next.

    Insular Thyroid Cancer
I don't know a lot about your type of cancer. I do know that it is more rare than others. I did find this however in an article:

Insular carcinoma has been shown to be thyroglobulin-positive and calcitonin-and carcinoembryonic-antigen-negative.

This is where the information came from

I would be inclined to ask for a PET scan to see if there is metastasis. If nothing is found I wouldn't worry about your Thyroglobulin levels as it seems to be the nature of this type of cancer.

If metastasis is found, they will typically go to External Beam Radiation. Sometimes in extreme cases Chemotherapy can be used.

I hope this helps a little.

    Blessings,
