anybody on PARP - particularly ABT-888 ?

Options
Hi,

I was dx with stage 4 primary peritoneal in june, 2009. I did IP chemo - taxol & cisplatin.

I was in remission for almost 2 years and am not having a recurrence.

I started the PARP trial a few weeks ago.
I am on the ABT-888 trial. I get carbo & gemzar and will start taking the abt/parp pills very soon.

Just wondering if anybody is on this particular study.

Or, if you know anybody that is, let me know.

I'm 35 and BRCA1+.
I guess I will also post under ovarian cancer but I know that this particular study is not only exclusive to gyn/onc cancers.

Thanks a lot,
niki

    Dear NikiI have never heard
    Dear Niki

I just read your posting on the peritoneal discussion board & realized that your above post has a typo in it--that you are "NOW" having a recurrence-- rather than "not having a recurrence." That makes a lot more sense!

I think the PARP-inhibitor drugs are really promising. Too bad you gotta get chemo, too.

    Good luck with your trial.

    Veliparib (ABT-888)
    Nike,

I was on this clinical trial first. They drew the doxil for me and I was on it for 9 months (July 2010-March 2011)before my CA 125 starting rising and CTscan showed small tumor. Enough to stop and go on the Veliparib (ABT-888).

I started the pills (May 2011) and was able to do that for 3 cycles then my CA-125 went up again and because of protocol I was taken off August 22nd.

That is when I started another clinical trial Cabozantinib(XL184)which is a molecular inhibitor on September 12th, but that did not work either. I experienced very high blood pressure, among some other unpleasant side effects. My last dose was October 17th.

I am BRCA 2+ as is my sister who has elected to have both Prophylactic mastectomy and hysterectomy and well as our daughter who has had Prophylactic oophorectomy and will have her mastectomy in December.

    Hope that helps some.

    Libby ☺
