New Colorectal Cancer Support Group on MN

Finally we have our location and details set! Since my dx I have tried to do what I can to add positives to an often negative situation. I spread the word about cancer screening, and participate in Get Your Rear in Gear and Relay for Life. I've been participating in a great support group, but the timing doesn't always work for me, and many others have mentioned that too. So I made it my mission to start another group. In our large metropolitan area we only had 3 groups, one in the north, and one in the middle that each meet once per month. There are many more groups for lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, but not much for colorectal. I'm hoping someone will start a C.A.R.S. East for the St. Paul area, and maybe another one in the NW, so that we don't leave anyone out.

C.A.R.S. SOUTH (Colon/Anal/Rectal Support) is the "child" of the original group that meets in Edina once per month on third Thursdays from 5:30PM - 7PM. We found that many people couldn't attend on Thursdays, or couldn't attend so early - esepcially thoes that work in other areas of the city and would have to fight rush hour traffic to attend.

So we now have the new C.A.R.S. South group which will have their first meeting on Novmeber 8 from 6:30-8:30PM in Burnsville, near Fairview Ridges Hospital, very convenient to 35E/35W split, and County Road 42, to service those in Inver Grove Heights, Eagan, Apple Valley, Farmington, Burnsville, Lakeville, Prior Lake, Shakopee, New Market, New Prague, Jordan, Faribault and beyond. Please pass the word to anyone you know that is looking for a support group in our area.
