    Curling starts
so I'll be back on the ice, instructing new curlers. However, for most of the weekend, I intend to just relax. Last weekend, we went to the West Coast for our son's wedding - it was fabulous, but I'm beat!

    weekend
Errands on Saturday & then after church on Sunday, we're driving to a cousin's house for a birthday party for my great Aunt Helen. She turns 100 on Sunday! The irony is that she is my grandma's sister and my grandma died on her 61st birthday- so it seems amazing to me that her sister is still alive at 100!

2-Weeks In a Row....A New Sundance Record, LOL!
If I don't get dizzy and fall over, I'm gonna' see Jennie-Poo and her girls Saturday night for our annual howdy:)

Dinner and alot of laughs will be on the menu. She and I get along so well and have a really good time talking and laughing when we get together. She's still crazier than me, though after a margarita or 2 - it's a toss up:)

She and the girls came down to go to the Cowboy game on Sunday - I'll be looking for her from the safety of my sofa.

So, 2 weekends when I did something...see there, Pepe - anything is possible, even for me, LOL!

    Take care everybody!

    Chemo weekend
The grapes came in yesterday (we truck them from California), but I missed the crush - chemo weekend for me, and I'm not doing so well. (But I am better than last cycle.) My husband crushed by himself. He did my brother's grapes and ours. They are in the fermenters now. My brother bought all the grapes and is splitting with us with my husband helping them make theirs. We got Old Vine Zinfandel this year. We used to make a lot more wine, but I drink very little of it since my dx, and we just don't have any money to purchase grapes either. Most years for the reds we'd make Cabernet, Zin, Piniot Noir, and sometimes Merlot. I really wanted to make Malbec, but we could not get the grapes this year. It was a tough year for Nappa. The whites start as juice, since you don't need the skins for color, and we'd make Chardonnay, Gerwertztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, and ice wine - especially the years we could get Muskat Canelli.

He had to pull what was left of the garden this morning - we had another freeze last night and didn't prepare for it. So today he has been chopping and freezing peppers (and made some stufffed), and cooking up spaghetti squash with grilled veggies (zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, onions). We had that for an early dinner and it was so good with some spaghetti sauce and grated cheese. It is sad to see the end of garden season. :(

We still have many bushels of apples from our trees and have been juicing them, baking them and eating them like normal. My daughter's boyfriend from the Czech Republic is here and he has made apple struedel for us a few times - different than we make it - not as sweet, and I like it better. I still need to talk someone into making apple dumplings with cinmamon ice cream!

My mother sent up a huge box of pears from her trees and her neighbors trees - they left for Europe today and didn't want them to spoil. So I've got organic pears to go with the organic apples - plenty of fresh fruit for a while. But soon winter will be upon us, and we'll be eating all the store-bought crap....

I must be feeling better - I wrote all about food and wine and don't feel like vomiting! That is a good sign!
