A knock on the window pane

Have you ever had such a moment. I'm sitting here in the basement and I hear a tapping on my living room window. I go investigate. Standing there smiling from ear to ear is the old gentleman who works for the medical company that delivered my jevity cases two years ago. He's checking on me 2 years post treatment and remembers me from two years past all chemo-ed and radiated half dead coming to the door to sign for that jevity. He had to bring them in as I couldn't. Remembered my kids. We had spent some time talking before. I was tickled pink and purple. Some people are just that way.

    :)
That's absolutely awesome, my friend. I have not had that experience, but my wife tells me from time to time that certain doctors ask how I am doing, some of whom I have not seen for five years or more.

It means a lot, I know.

    Take care,

    Joe

    Wow
Says something about the old gentleman - he's got stuff to do, and comes to check on someone he has no strong ties to.

Says a lot about you, too - this guy delivers to lots of places, sees tons of people, and is still interested in checking up on you.

    Friends
There are people in this world who are friends and then there are people in this world who are real friends. You will all ways know them as they are the ones who care enough to come back and check up on how you are doing.

    Cancer & Friends
I think cancer tends to separate the men from the boys so to speak as for friends....

The ones that I consider closest were always there...the so so friends seemed to be pretty scarce during the time that I could have used them being there the most.....

Hey Ratface, Good to hear from you. It's nice that this gentleman just stopped by to say "hello". People like that are rare anymore. Take care, Homer & Connie

    So wonderful...
It gives you such a warm feeling when someone you barely know remembers you after all this time. He is such a sweet man to stop by to check on you after 2 years!!

There are a few nurses at the cancer center where I am being treated who remember me and it's been 2 years since I had seen any of them. It makes you feel cared for when these kind strangers remember you.

So happy that you had the opportunity to be "tickled pink and purple".

    Nurses - Cancer Center
There are several at my cancer center that remember me and always greet me, LOL... I don't understand at all how I would stick out in their mind...LOL.

I have one that I'm especially close to. She was the first nurse that helped me, set-up the pump and explained everything.

She told me first off, that her name was Lane, and that she was the Worst nurse there....

Her name is Lane Worst, LOL....my kind of nurse, one with a sense of humor.

andddd, if I didn't take in enough fluids or whatever, she'd give me crap....LOL.

    that is so nice
it always amazes me when people i met through treatment remember me. sometimes i will be running from one appointment to another in the hospital, and someone will stop me and say hi, and sometimes i cannot even rememeber them! one nurse i had knew me by name, and she was my nurse when i had my neck dissection in jan/09! she remembered me two years later!

how very nice that he came to check on you.

i was gently trying to tell a relative i know that they need to calm down and not lash out at people especially the hospital staff. the last thing i would want is for me medical team to think, omg not her again! kindness goes a long way. especially would not want to be a pita to someone who was going to give me chemo.... i worry every time i see that anger and lashing out that they will become even more isolated, and things will get worse...

it is sad because you can either build friendships and make beautiful connections with people through a tumultouis time, or you can become bitter and alone. i will choose the former.

thanks for the little story, rick.
