My Angel

Hi,

I had to post my story and experience of being on this site when I was going through treatment back in 2003. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when I was 23 years old, stage IIa. I lost a lot of people in my life during that time because they did not know how to be there for me. Feeling hopeless, I turned to this support group hoping to connect with people who were going through similar experiences. I met so many wonderful, amazing people who helped me through it all. One in particular stood out to me and her and I formed a very special bond around that time. She had had cancer one year earlier and was struggling with it all after the fact. We emailed daily and as she supported me through chemo and radiation, we slowly developed an extremely special friendship. After emailing and talking over the phone for months, we decided that we would meet once I was fully done with treatment to celebrate my (our) victory. We wound up meeting in Chicago in 2004 and it was honestly one of the most special trips that I have ever taken. She is now family to me and I am honestly thankful everyday that God brought her into my life. We still talk and are still very good friends.

I just wanted to let everyone know my story because the bonds that we form on here could be life long. I am happy to say that I have now been in remisson for 8 years. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
