Sweating, is it normal?

Wondering if anyone has any info on this. My dad (stage 4 colon w/mets to liver) has been doing chemo for about 8 months. He was on Oxyplatin but now he is just on luecovorin, 5fu and avastin. Occasionally, out of the blue, the left side of his head gets soaked with sweat, for no apparent reason. He doesnt feel like he is hot and sweaty he says but all of a sudden he is soaked. Any advice?

    Oxaliplatin /Leu/5FU was my chemo back in the day.....
    and I would wake up in the night sweating profusely and whew it stunk as well.....Could actually smell the chemo out of my pores and the bed sheets, clothes I wore, etc would reek of that dreadful odor...I could be sitting somewhere and all of a sudden have a film of what felt like slime all over me , again chemo sweats. It did go away after the chemo was over and I certainly don't miss it.
    Chemo is a drug that is/was derived from the use of chemical warfare and was found to have a considerable effect on cancer cells. The use of this has saved hundreds of thousands to immediate loss of life and all of the side or after effects of the drugs are still not all known for everyone has a different chemistry makeup thus making the side effects different for us all. In any respect, seems that the good in it outweighs the bad it does so we make that choice yay or nay when it comes to it...and if we choose to use, then we have to deal with what it deals to us......good health and in hopes that chemo will end soon and with it the sweating..........buzz

    Tell him "Don't sweat it"
    It's a fairly normal side effect. It does depend on what particular chemo one is on but from the cocktail that your Dad is on, it brings back memories of the sweats. Sweating is also one of the body's way of getting rid of toxins and regulating your internal temperature. Chemo, chemical therapy, can have lots of side effects but often people who are on the same drug experience very similar side effects.

    Hi all: Yup, am experiencing sweating every day but luckily not at night (although it is downright embarrassing when you are some place with people and all of a sudden this water just seems to gush out of your hair!!!!! I've been caught driving with it and it drips into my eyes so I can hardly see.). And my friend who is hospital right now having chemo for stomach/esophagous cancer which includes cisplatin and 5FU experienced it right away. I don't know if it the actual chemicals, though, or the steroids they give you at the beginning of each treatment (here anyways). Any thoughts on this? I can appreciate the body wanting to get rid of the toxins, but it is so embarrassing and uncomfortable particularly in the hot and humid weather we are currently having. Mine seems to occur most frequently when I go from one temperature to another, like from an air conditioned house to a humid outside.
