Infections that don't go away

Ok, so I finished rads May 31st...my breast had a few pimple like sores and had some soreness around the nipple. I used polysporin and it seemed to go away...I did not notice any problems in the last month or so. I went up to the cottage this past week and by mid week I had yellow hard chrystal like discharge. The nipple is burning and itchy at the same time. It was on all of my bras and pajamas...so of course I stopped swimming. But since we shower in lake water, I had to then clean my breast with bottled water, and kept polysporin on it the rest of the week. Wouldn't you know it...hottest week of the summer and I can't go swimming...

I had just had surgery on my neck July 6th and had a skin infection - cellulitis and they had given me eurethromiacin (can't spell :)) So anything that was going on from the radiation should have been cleared up as well. I was told that I could go swimming as my incision was closed.

New dr at walk in clinic I saw yesterday gave my cephalexin and a antibiotic cream with cortisone in it.

So am I going to have problems with this breast forever?? Just wondering if anyone else had reoccuring issues after rads. I have a swimming pool and now can't enjoy it either...

Ok, complaining is over.

Next surgery is scheduled for next week Tuesday, so swimming wouldn't be an option anyway...

Take care all...S73

    an unusual suggestion...
Hi S73.....I'm allergic to just about everything. Literally. Had surgery on the 21st of last month and had an allergic reaction the the wipes they used to bathe me. But...before my current life I owned a hair salon, and one of the things we would use regularly to protect our skin from all of the chemicals was called 'Silicone Glove'...and was made by Avon. I don't know if they still make it..I've been out of the beauty business for 10 years...but, it might be something to use on your breast prior to exposing it to lake or pool water. I had no reaction to it, which is saying something! I'd hate to see you not do something you love (swimming...I'm missing out right now as well)...it might be something to check into though.

    Go...
See your physician...I would imagine any infection needs to be cleared up before your upcoming surgery, pronto....

    Wishing you the best...

    Nancy said it best!
Call the Dr. pronto. If there's an infection there they probably won't do yoru surgery.
