Ok, before my initial surgery last year, I was topping off the scales at around 280 lbs. After 5 weeks in the hospital I was at about 190 and my surgeon was worried silly. I had to work HARD to get that body built back up.

So, I've worked hard to get built back up, and now then I realize that while last year I was going hellbent for leather UP hill with my foot slammed on the gas pedal, I made it to the top... but then started down the other side and failed to take my damned foot off the gas! LOL

Stepped on the scale the other day and it told me I was at 274 lbs. CRAP!!!!

So... gonna have to start putting it in reverse, which sucks. BUT, it prompted me to reach another UNEXPECTED milestone Friday evening. I did TEN pushups with the help of my son (he sat on my feet)!! I felt like a mule had kicked me in the gut afterwards, but DANG it felt good to be ABLE to do those :D

It is amazing in a way how much weight one can lose in a short time by having an operation. There ARE much better ways of doing it though! I had lost about 40 pounds but unfortunately I found them again! Thankfully I'm back swimming and doing a little kayaking. I want to start hiking again too. My oldest son did a 20 mile overnight hike on the AT (Appalachian Trail) two weekends ago. They averaged 2 miles per hour with backpacks on. I would have dropped dead if I tried it but I used to do a lot of backpacking and I really enjoy it. I'm planning on getting up to doing an overnight in the Fall and then one in the Winter in the snow. I LOVE camping in the snow...
Great to hear you are working it! Keep going, you'll inspire me to do more

Oh my goodness, I'd never do that - probably because cold weather and me don't mix well. I'm usually wearing a bathrobe all day and kept in the house during the winter. Hey, miss your kayaking pictures. Loved the misty fog one. Congratulations to your son on such an accomplishment.

Just seems the older we get the easier it is to put it on. Good job on starting to exercise again, but boy it sure does get to you when you haven't done it in a long time. Keep us posted on how it is going.

to be able to get back into martial arts... my oldest girl is currently attending, and I got to take her last Monday. Sitting there, seeing those kids playing in their uniforms made me so nostalgic I almost got misty-eyed. But... picturing what it would feel like to take a round-kick to the gut at this point in time.. man, oh man!! LOL

Think I'll stick with working up gradually from 10 situps a day to 500 in a sitting, then will think about it. ;)
