Good News and Bad News

I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is my head CT scan results are in and there is no sign of brain metastasis, but I'm left with no answers as to cause of the weird headaches I've been having constantly since chemo. They are very different to any other headache I have ever had. I'll have to discuss the next course of action with my chemo oncologist when I see him next month.

The bad news is my lymphedema is getting worse with the radiation. I met with both my radiation oncologist and my surgeon this week and they both have advised me to stop the Lympha-Press treatments due the increased lymphedema pain and instead begin to see a RMT (registered massage therapist) that is certified and trained in Lymphatic Drainage Massage. I have a list of RMT's to contact next week, but I've been told to expect to pay $120.00 or more per session and I will need to go several times per week, every week, for the foreseeable future.

As you can imagine I'm completely stressed right now. This week has been really hard to get through for a number of reasons. My hubby has also had a highly pressured and stressful week again at work. There have been more changes due to the company restructuring happening and his department is still in unknown territory as to how and when these changes are going to affect them. He is sleep deprived and getting run down.

To top it off my crazy MIL has asked my hubby to come to her place tomorrow morning to have a talk about all the changes going on in her life financially and how that is going to affect everyone around her... OMG!

For once I pray that the Universe would have mercy on us. We just can't deal with any more stress and hardship. Sorry for the rant. I just want to cry!

All my prayers are flying to
All my prayers are flying to you. I wish there was more to do to help. It is amazing that any of us survive this life at all. Just keep letting it out here and I'm sure all the pink sisters will send you positive energy...

I went for the Lymphatic Drainage Massage but not for that rather for a frozen shoulder. They did show me the massage also. My insurance paid for nine visits which is all I needed. Call your insurance and get pre-approval. At least you will know how much they will cover. I had the surgeons order to go (it was like a prescription).

As for financial we just took one problem at a time. For the radiation they billed us at the end and I called the billing department and set up a monthly payment plan.

My DH went thru a down-sizing too. Try not to stress too much. Just work one problem at a time. By doing this we made it through.

    Good luck.

Maria it is a very tough journey
    Maria,
While cancer treatment is a very tough journey there is a light in the end, believe me.
I do have lymphedema too. Marcia gave you a very detailed advice how to approach it, I cannot add anything to it.
As for your MIL situation, please include family attorney and accountant in negotiation. You and your husband will benefit from a person outside of your family circle to sort out emotional and financial issues and come up to compromised solution suitable for both parties. You are dealing with mentally unstable person, who can change her decisions several times a day. Your family needs a piece of mind, even it means having a different lifestyle.
    Wishing you the best
