I saw my medical oncologist and my general surgeon today for check-ups. With no prompting, my oncologist told me she could safely say I was "CURED". Later my surgeon told me I had "No Evidence of Disease". This is the first time either has used these terms and I have to say it felt GREAT!!

I am off the Femara and will consider whether to try Tamoxifen in August, but my oncologist told me that, while there is a definite benefit to taking the anti-hormone therapy when you have hormone positive cancer, my chance of recurrence is so low that the benefit would be correspondingly low. I haven't totally made up my mind, but I haven't felt this good in a long time.

Had to share with the best support group ever!

    They actually used the word "cured"? OMG! That's fabulous! How wonderful. Brings tears of joy to my eyes. It makes the past year and all the aggressive treatments you did worthwhile.

    I was worried about you when you had such side effects and weren't able to take Femera. From your post, it doesn't seem like such a big deal to not do it. Hooray again.

    Now, get the boobs fixed and you'll definitely be a new and well woman. You and NED are going to be dancing together forever!!!

    Yes, 'Cured' is a really strong word. I think the fact that my doctor offered it without me asking anything like that made it an incredibly wonderful surprise! Then to have it followed up with NED, again unprompted, by my surgeon put me over the top!

    I've just begun dancing..............and continuing to hold the dance cards for the rest of this wonderful group of warriors!
