Getting my ducks in a row

After the recent loss of of some beloved members of the discussion board, I decided to come out of Lala Land for a while to get my "ducks in a row." I appreciated reading all the things some of the survivors have done to help their loved ones in handling their affairs when they reach their demise.

I haven't done much except throw away a lot of stuff that I had been hoarding figuring that I'm just leaving a mess for someone else to deal with. I already had a trust set up years ago and have even less money and more debt now than I did then.

My children were underage at the time I had the trust drawn up and I set up my older cousin as the executor of the trust--now I find out that I have to re-write the entire trust just to make one of my children the executor. I think I'll just stay in touch with the cousin and her husband so they can appoint the new executor on my behalf.

I found this strangely interesting web site where one can purchase pre-written eulogies:
http://www.speech-writers.com/mothereulogypack.htm Although, my kids are usually never at a loss for words, maybe I should have something in my "DEATH" file that will help them out when the time comes. I pray that I DO precede them in death--what a relief that would be.

If I am not on the board much this summer, just figure that I am doing well. Got that?

    Stuff
Good for you LQ, for throwing away your stuff!!! I have been trying to do that too. We had a huge family "work party" last Saturday. Everyone was moaning a bit while we were "partying" but we all felt so good at the end of the day, after throwing away (and recycling) so much STUFF.
    Have a wonderful summer,

    Counting all the ducks
Sounds like a good idea to de-clutter my home, too. It's sobering to be thinking "what do I REALLY need?" and then see that I have a lot more than I really need. I am not up to having a yard sale but I am sure lots of my stuff could be donated to some charity. Glad you brought up the subject, LQ.

    Have a great summer!
