Well, one week of treatment down........month of June and my last radiation is the day after Independence Day (how appropriate)

No real side effects (yet) from the chemo/radiation although I am extremely tired and I'm beginning to feel that "burning" sensation where they're "burning" me. Swallowing is becoming a bit more difficult.......(time for you guys to buy stock in Ben and Jerry's)

My chemo oncologist was rather upset with me because I dropped about 10 lbs over the past two weeks but I did finally get to meet the nutritionist who told me to pound down the calories and not to worry about the fat (I have a few stents in my heart so I was concerned about that.) After she told me that I guaranteed the doc that I'd gain 8 lbs by next week. Too bad our state fair has finished......I could head down and have some fried butter.

All in all, things are going okay I guess. William advised me that my nadir (not as in Ralph) for susceptability for infection is 10-14 days after the cisplatin so that's coming up this weekend. The Xeloda pills are going down okay but I'm beginning to feel some swelling (I think) from the radiation. I asked if I could use olive oil if it became difficult to swallow the pills and the nurse said, "sure, either that or K-Y Jelly....anything that would help.

    Diet
My oncologist called it the "Hagen-Daz Diet." Eat anything as long as you gain weight.

You'd better get that pizza soon!
    Hopper,
Glad to hear you are handling the treatment well. I would however like to caution you that based on my husband's experience the last week of radiation and 2-3 weeks after the end of the treatment are the hardest. Tom was feeling sick all the time, throwing up several times a day, and had no appetite of course. Seems like Tom's reaction is quite typical. So get that pizza as soon as you can!
