An update on dad

Hi,

Just wanted to write a quick note and say thank you for all the prayers and well wishes.

I have posted a new journal entry at my dad's caring bridge site at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/harrycollins2/journal

I am going to try to update that and probably not post as many updates here right now.

We have been able to get an apartment in Pittsburgh with the amazing help of the people at UPMC, Dr. Gibson and his staff and the hospice people at VITAS. I am overwhelmed with the kindness of strangers, as is my mother.

We are taking things one day at a time and dad is glad he did the clinical trial with Dr. Gibson because the treatment stopped the cancer from spreading and it even shrunk the tumors. Unfortunately, he wasn't strong enough to continue and Dr. Gibson is the type of doctor who did discuss with us at the beginning that even if the chemo worked if dad could not tolerate it he would stop it. But the good news is that the Erbitux and Irinotican seems to show promise in treating Stage IVb cancer with mets. This is encouraging and may help others in the future. So my dad ever the soldier and scientist is pleased that he has contributed to helping others in the future.

Much love to everyone with their struggles. Please continue to pray for my dad Harry, my mother Suzanne and our family.

Cindy

    You are an amazing family
    Dear Cindy
You have been so blessed to be able to go to UPMC and meet Dr. Gibson. Someday I just want to go there to meet these wonderful people in person.

I think of your family so much and pray for all of them.

    Much love always
