Dad passed away on Tuesday

Hi Everyone,
My father, Paul, aka Slydog11, passed away two days ago. He was diagnosed last July with Stage IVb EC. Today would have been his 57th birthday. He died at home surrounded by his family. He was loved by so many people and he will be missed everyday. Dad was the kindest person I know and he was way too young to leave us, but I know he is in Heaven now and I'm glad that he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and advice on this site. Your kind words to my Dad really got him through those first few months of chemotherapy. I remember how touched he was when people immediately started responding to his posts and writing him poems, etc. It is unfortunate that he stopped keeping in touch with you when the doctors gave him the bad news about the cancer spreading. You all are truly wonderful people, and I wish you all the best!
Sincerely,
Katie

    Katie,
I am so sorry to hear

    Katie,

I am so sorry to hear your news. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. This cancer is such a monster and takes too many of our loved ones from us way too soon.

I hope that the love of your family and the memories will help you through the difficult times ahead.

    Lots of hugs,
    Cindy

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad
    Katie,

I am so sorry to hear that Paul has left us. I remember his posts here earlier this year. He was always so positive and upbeat. I know he is now in a better place where the suffering of cancer is gone.

May God give you and your family comfort and peace at this difficult time.

    With Condolances,

    So very sorry
    Katie,
Your dad was posting when I first joined this board, and he was such an inspiration to me -- to have a stage 4 diagnosis and making his own posts, and having such a positive voice, was something rare. I have missed him over the last couple months and will continue to miss his presence here.

    Katie, thank you...
    Katie,
thank you for letting everyone here know of your dad. How thoughtful of you to do this when you are in your own grief from your loss.
Just like your dad you sound like one special person.
I read your dad's postings on here and thought of how he looked at his cancer straight on and lived in reality. So many when diagnosed in such a late stage of cancer will only look for a miracle and they let the present moments just slip by always looking for that miracle only, so they don't prepare themselves or their loved ones but your dad right from the beginning was deciding what decisions he had to make financially and was making out his will. I'm sure he would have loved a miracle but he was preparing for what if that miracle does not come, which also prepares the family as well.
Your name is on my prayer list Katie.
I pray God's love and comfort for you and your family.

    so so sorry Katie,
One of my daughter's names is Katie & it pains me to think of anyone loosing their dad. I pray that someday your wonderful memories of your dad will overshadow that great sadness you feel now......

May 17th is exactly 1 year after my uncle passed away from EC after only 3 months. He, too was diagnosed at a late stage. He is my dad's younger brother. My dad has EC, presently fighting a nasty infection and has a chest tube.

prayers for peace for you & your family
