update on bloated abdomen

Well finally got a call back from Onc. He wants me to do a ultra sound and complete blood work when I return to Michigan from Florida in two weeks. I have had this bloated abdomen since my 12th folfox treatment back in March 2011. I was declared again NED after ct scan in March as well. CEA less than one and liver normal. This is my seecond bout with colon cancer in five years Stage 3c (tumor 2 cm in colon 3 nodes involved) What has me worried is last May I was declared still NED due to a CT/Pet scan and they were absolutely wrong. Three months later surgery and Folfox and of course disbelief. Now another CT scan and they say I'm NED again. Anyway ONC was very concerned that my abdomen had not returned to normal and ordered all these new tests. So I'm very concerned too. Especially since they apparently have Ray Charles reading CT scans. Hopefully my CEA which is a good indicator for me remains less than 1. Well 2 weeks to find out not bad when dealing with doctors and tests I guess. Either way I will never do chemo again. Hugs Lou

    Hi: It is bloated and not an incisional hernia which is very common after abdominal surgery? They can look the same. It would be the better diagnosis!

    "so very concerned" well i know what you mean also. me too.
    just try and relax and get your answers in 2 weeks.

    so far i have dropped 7 kgs since finishing folfox. some of the weight loss must have been fluid.

    They may want to checkfor parasites. I had a bloated tummy for a long time. Hope they find relief. I also bloat when I drink any alcohol, but ut goes back down the next day but I did have a bloated stomach for several years, before and after chemo.

    I had bloating for years. Turns out I had just gotten fat. I hope they find you well and just recovering slowly. For now, don't worry about what you can't do anything about and let us know what they come up with.

    Sorry to hear that you are still having trouble with that. Since you just had a scan in March maybe it is just some fluid build up but they need to find out what is causing it and deal with that first and foremost. Hope they can find out what is going on with you and give you some relief very soon. Enjoy that new bundle of joy and congratulations on the arrival. Where abouts in Michigan and what hospital?
