Hello,

I was diagnosed with NHL in Feb 2011. I have been reading your posts since then. I decided to join in when I saw a comment regarding a rash from this treatment. Two weeks after my first round I broke out in a rash from my neck down to my thighs. My doctor said she had never seen that before. It's now been a week since my second round and it's coming back again.

Thanks to everyone for posting. It has been helping me through a difficult time.

Tonya

    hi
Hi Tonya, welcome, I never had a rash, but the drugs they use affect people in different ways, my heart always would race, scared the hell out of me. Just make sure to let your Onc. know anything out of the ordinary, no matter how small. Good luck with your treatments, Vinny

    Rash
Hi Tonya,Welcome sorry you need to be here.Chop was almost easy maybe next to this Treanda a rough treatment for me.Didn't have near the side effects then as I do now.Don't really believe I'm going to be able to complete 6 rounds, have finished 4 so far.You say your rash was from the neck to the thighs, would that be front and back?Believe I have 2 different kinds of rashes going on.My rash started on the back as itchy raised red dots, also wanted to rip my ears off as they itched out of control too.Went to see a dematologist to get something to control the itch.He gave me a few different things but they stopped working shortly after,so next stop was ENT.Thought he could give me something for ears.He gave me oil drops but instead I rub this all over my ears outside and somehow it brings a bit of relief. Now fast-forward the rash has turned pretty solid in spots across my back it has also spread "behind" my ears and along neck and in hair.By the way my hair has been falling out slowly. This was not to happen. My onc told me at the last visit he may need to stop treatment should these side effects not subside. He raised the Dexamethasone steroid from 4 to 8mgs.It did take away much of the knee pain and headache.Had a unexplained knee swelling with fluid and now I have 2 tender spots on my arm that feel like boils that just appeared. There have been many more side effects that I've not mentioned. So tell me what is your onc doing for this rash? Would be such a blessing to have relief from this rash & itch. What is your DX?Sending you some healing thoughts,Michele DX 1995 FNHL3

I just realized I forgot to
I just realized I forgot to mention what I was being treated with...oops! I am being given Rituxan/Bendamustine. My doctor has 8 rounds planned. My rash was front and back. The doctor just told me to take Benadryl. It did help alot. She really didn't think it was caused by the chemo at first. She said she had never seen that before. She believes it now though. The tests she had run came back negative. The rash went away after about 10 days. It sounds like yours is more severe than mine. I hope you feel better soon!

My DX is Non Hodgkins Follicular B-Cell,Grade 1,Stage 4

    Hi Tonya
    Tonya,
Sorry, to hear of your diagnosis with Non Hodgkin’s Follicular B-Cell, Grade 1, Stage 4.

This is a great site, everyone here will be able to provide you with lots of information and support.

My husband was also diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Follicular B-Cell, Grade 1, Stage 4 and being treated with Rituxan/Bendamustine. He just completed his 2 cycle and has two more scheduled. The last one was on Monday/Tuesday of this week, he started off feeling really good but that was short lived. About mid day yesterday it hit him like a ton of bricks, he just couldn’t do anything. Very tired and just didn’t have the energy to do much. He hasn’t had any rashes, but has pains in his joint (hips and legs), and mostly at night. Today was probably his worst couldn’t eat, upset stomach…pretty much felt lousy. We know there are many risks and side effects from the drugs he is being given to kill the disease but all we can do is pray and have faith that the drugs are doing just that, "KILLING THE DISEASE". We've pretty much have left the rest in the hands of our LORD.

I know it hard but please stay strong and fight the fight, this goes to everyone on this site. My prayers goes out to each and everyone of you.

    Tonya, God Bless.
