Pray for my dad...

Options
After battling since October with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer with mets to his liver. I fear my dad is at the end of this disease. He has lost an incredible amount of weight. He has difficulty talking and walking. He is wasting away in front of our eyes and he is on morphine and every other painkiller known to man. He can hear us but we dont know if he is being responsive. I know he is probably going to die within the next few weeks. Please Pray for him.

Jonathan

Prayers for your Dad and for you and your family
So sorry to hear of your Dad's failing physical condition. Sounds like he has fought very hard. Hopefully, he is getting the benefit from his pain medications. We are praying for your father's comfort and for comfort for you and your family. Mary

    A Catholic Prayer
Jonathan, as a Catholic and knowing your father is in pain, I pray these words for your dad:

May Christ Who was crucified for your sake
    free you from excruciating pain.
May Christ Who died for you
free you from the death that never ends.
May Christ the Son of the living God,
set you in the ever green loveliness of His Paradise,
and may He, the true Shepherd
recognize you as one of His own.
May you see your Redeemer face to face
and standing in His presence forever,
may you see with joyful eyes
Truth revealed in all its fullness.

    Amen.

Jonathan, My heart hurts for the pain your family is going through in these last few weeks. I sat by my dad's side as he made his way into Heaven, so I know how your heart aches. Please know we are all praying for you and are here if you need any of us. God Bless.

I never thought I could lose
I never thought I could lose my dad at the age of 24. He is only 61 years old and his name is Harvey. He is too young to be dying of cancer. I thank you all for your prayers. This is by far one of the most difficult things anyone can ever experience.

    Prayers Coming Your Way!
    Jonathan,

I'm so, so sorry. It's so hard to see your dad waste away and turn into someone you don't recognize. I went through the same thing. My father passed away Feb. 16th. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 with liver mets as well back in March of 2010. He had a good 11 months, but when the liver starts to go...it turns fast.

They say that the last sense to go is the hearing. So...whenever you talk in front of him, assume he can hear you. He may not know what you are saying, but your familiar voice will be comforting. This is the time to spend holding his hand and telling him how much you love and appreciate him.

I'll be praying for peace and comfort for all of your family. It's a bittersweet time. Part of you wants them to just "go already" as you know things aren't going to get better and you don't want to see them suffer anymore. The other part of you doesn't want them to go because you don't know if you can manage life without them there with you. It's just a really hard time. To be blunt...it plain out sucks. But God will bring blessings and good out of your experience. It just may take awhile to recognize them.

    Blessings,
    Sally

prayers for your dad, Harvey, you & your family
so many prayers for you and your family and for your dad, Harvey. I can't imagine your anguish. I pray that he can feel your love, peace & comfort from above. I pray he is fear free as he struggles through this stage of EC. I pray for the same for you---unfortunately you are not alone---but sometimes it helps to know that fact...

    Love & prayers
Harvey is a good name. There's nothing i can say that will make you feel better, so I hope you are finding some solace in your sadness, when knowing that many people are holding your family in our hearts and prayers, sending love and hopes for peace at this time.

    Love, Rhonda

    Your absolutely right. My
Your absolutely right. My dad can hear everything I am saying but he cant talk at all and he is too weak to even move his body. The only reason we know he is alive is because he is still breathing.

It does plain out suck. The only comfort I have is....I know my dad is comfortable right now.

    It is brutal....realizing
It is brutal....realizing that I could have had my dad another 10-20 years and now he wont be around for anything. He won't be here for my wedding or my kids, and because of what is going on right now I am going to have to move from where I grew up and where I am currently living. I don't think it could get much worse than this. My only comfort is he is comfortable right now and he is on alot of pain medication.

    Thank you for your prayers

    Jonathan,
    I know you have

    Jonathan,

I know you have been a wonderful advocate for your dad and you have tried everything to get him more time. I will keep him, you and the rest of your family in my prayers.

Right now words cant offer you much comfort but it sounds like you are making sure your dad is comfortable and fairly free from pain.

    Hugs,
    Cindy

Johnathan I ammarried to John who has had stage IV EC since oct 14, 2009. John stopped taking chemo the end of Feb. He is in Hospice care and we have been blessed with time we never thought we'd have. My heart aches for a son who is losing his dad and friend to this awful desease. I know all the EC people who go before us will get together in heaven and look down on us still here missing them. They will look down on us feeling healthy no pain and smile as they wait for us. Take care prayers are coming your way.

    My dad stopped taking
My dad stopped taking chemotherapy at the end of January. He was doing so bad at the end of January that we thought the chemotherapy was going to kill him. The last weekend in January my dad had 7 blood transfusions because he was anemic and his red blood cell count was dangerously low. The doctors were surprised my dad didn't have a heart attack and die that weekend. I am just lucky that he was able to make it through April.

The worst part about the whole situation....my sister is graduating from college in May and he won't make her graduation. What a mess :(.
