Fantastic news ,the sweet side , the doxil is working for mum!! Happy days! Her ca125 has come down from 247 to 120 after one treatment! Yes yes yes, thank you god!
But the bitter side, mums consultant said he wanted a chat with me on my own to see how I was coping, we talked really about mums treatment plan, and the options she has left , and the possibilities of trials. He said he thought it was best to wait until all other options had failed before searching for a trial, explained his reasons for this, if the trial didn't work your mum could be to sick to then go onto a treatment that ' might' work. Ok I saw his thinking on this. Anyway while I had him in the room without mum, I said how long in your experience has she got, he gave her a year :( . I kind of knew this would probably be his answer, but hearing it from the horses mouth has saddened me.
Still I am soooooo happy that at the moment this is working , and we must take one day at a time, and cross the next bridge when we come to it.
I also want to thank all you guys on here your 'good' and 'bad' news has kind of prepared me for this journey. I think it is soooooo important to share all of our news in order to help each other deal with this beast and have an. Idea of what could be in store. Xxxx

    Oh Dear...I understand
It is bittersweet...wonderful about the doxil...just wonderful...and please remember no one has an expiration date...no one....the doctor canNOT determine that.....you may be happily surprised.... my sister and I decided in January if we get another x-mas it will be a bonus and you never know....your Mom is so lucky to have you...and I hope you make memories right now that you will have forever....that's my goal...I also completely agree with you about good news and bad news....this is cancer and it just isn't real rosy...I am so uplifted by good news and also the not so good news helps prepare....and makes me more compassionate....lets face, those of us who live with this disease know what we are dealing with...do we really think holding back not happy news is real or going to help anything? nahh...the women on this board are too smart....I am soo happy for you about the doxil!!! say hi to your Mom for me..

So happy about your good news
and the other falls into the "take it one day at a time" category. Lisa13Q is right, only God knows for sure when our time is up.

    Good news,
that the doxil is working! It did me good for 8 months or so too, aside from the blisters eventually. But, they cleared up soon after I finished doxil. Then, I went on the dose dense for 6 months. Now, I'm going on topo. So, I agree with LisaQ, the doc cannot give you an expiration date. Maybe I have a bit of a head-in-the-sand approach, but I have never asked any of my doctors that question.

    Hugs to you and mom,
    kathleen

    LIVE IN THE MOMENT
And thank God for the good moments. So happy to hear your Mom's numbers have come down. The long-term news wasn't very hopeful. But there IS still hope and given she is responding to the current treatment, just live in the moment. Take advantage of this breathing room for her and you, and move forward one day at a time.

Thank you so much for sharing the news, and I'm keeping all of you in my prayers. Sending lots of HUGS, too.

I am glad to hear the good news......
I am glad to hear the good news......Your mum is so fortunate to have you. As for the bitter side, I like to think of that commercial for one of the cancer centers here in the U.S. The lady says when she asked her doctor how much time she had left, his response was we've done all the tests and not one of them had an expiration date stamped on the bottom of your foot. Living in the moment and your plan to cross each bridge as it comes seems to be the best plan I've heard so far. Take care of your mum and don't forget some time just for you too. ;)Chris
