How sun sensitive do you become from Chemo....it's a beautiful sunny day, want to pull up a lawn chair and soak it all in after all the snow we had this winter.....sat down then remembered oh, sun sensitivity!!!!

    Sun sensitivity
I burned really bad during my first round of chemo. Just make sure you put on sunscreen and lots of it. Oh ya, and reapply it :} I can't imagine not being able soak up the sun.... In my opinion, as long as you take the proper percautions that everyone should take, being in the sun is fine. Enjoy the beautiful weather!!!!

    chemo
I think it depends a lot on the chemo drug

I have quite dark skin but on 5fu I could barely go outside without burning badly

    Sun Sensivity
It seems to be very individual. In 2005 I was on Xeloda/oxaliplatin/ Avastin - went to the beach twice with no problem. I took the usual precautions but nothing out of the ordinary.

In 2009 I was on Xeloda and again went to the beach. No unexpected issues.

So,as far as my experience goes - take reasonable precautions and things should be ok.

    g'day smokey
I am a mad fisherman and I fished right thru chemo. I used the strongest sunscreen, longsleeves and trousers a big hat and good wrap around polaroid sunnies. It is not a good idea to soak up some rays, avoid direct sunlight without protection. I had the same deal last year on methotrexate (similar to 5fu) .Even tho I was careful i still managed to cook a couple of patches,Ron.
