Hi Michelle, I have read your posts on the colon board. I was initially dx with anal cancer 5-9-09 T2NOMO, and had tx and so far so good. Then on 9-23-10 I was dx with a primary lung cancer 1aNOMO. I had vats to remove it and so far so good. I had a pet scan for follow up of the anal cancer on 5-10, and a 7mm nodule was found in my lower right lobe. The standard protocal is to rescan in 3 months to see of any change. Well in 8-10, the nodule grew to 11mm. The tumor board decided it needed to come out. The dx was made in the OR and squamous cell was determined, and at that point the lower right lobe was removed. I had no chemo/radiation as that is not required for 1aNOMO. I hope that your nodule is just inflammation. I wish you well. Lori
So 14 mm is a little big then. Hoping it is not cancer but i am a smoker for 30 yrs, angel always said when r u going to give up that nasty habit, Maybe soon now
Hi Michelle,
My name is Joe, i am 53 and in november 2010 a 9mm nodule was discovered in my left upper lung. I had a needle biopsy in dec and found to have stage 1b adenocarcinoma. I had a vats left upper lobectomy on Jan 18th, and it was found touching my pleural sack. It then became stage 1b. I am now going thru 16 weeks of chemo. I too was a heavy smoker for longer than you. Once i was discharged i went back to smoking within 2 days. Youngest son threaten to break both my hands to send me back to the hospital so i couldnt smoke. Since that day i havent picked up a butt, not that i havent wanted to but i just wanted to increase the odds in my favor in any way i could. I wish you the best and i dont think size is any indicator but i am not a doctor. There is always hope.

Joe ,My husband passed april 16 2009 from colon cancer our 2 grandkids miss him, so need to stick around at least til there 18 i hope because they r the ones that keep me going on.
If it is a cancer, it is small and caught early. I smoked for 35 years until 5-4-09 when my dr said tx would be easier for me if I quit and I did. I used the nicorette gum until 9-22-10, then had vats and a 3 day hospital stay and withdrew from the nicotene. I would love to smoke, but both my cancers are linked to smoking, among other things. I just chew a lot of gum, which helps me a lot. I wish you well Lori.
I had what showed as a 14mm spiculated nodule on a CT scan. It was hot on the PET scan so I went right to surgery without a needle biopsy. My nodule was touching the elastic membrane of the pleura so I was staged with Stage 1B adenocacinoma. I had a lower right lobectomy by VATS on 1/26. I start 4 rounds of chemo on 3/15. I had a follow up lung CT scan and brain MRI today.

Best of luck with your biopsy. Keep us posted.
