My Knight in Shining Armor

Vince is still in the hospital after getting his left pleura drained. The fluid on that side was not malignant.
We never did here back from UPMC but it really doesn't matter as our onc has called for hospice to come for Vince. He is so weak and tired that he could never do another treatment. My wonderful, big strong husband has been so ravaged by this beast of a cancer.
I am so sad

    Heart breaks
Barb, As I read your post my heart breaks . It is so hard to stand by and feel like and know there is not much we can do. The one thing I know is love and I am lucky I have shared that with my hubby.
I wish you peace and love

    Barb,

I am so sorry to hear that Vince is not doing well. The two of you have struggled hard against this disease. I hope that hospice can provide some relief for both of you during this difficult time.

I will be praying that God wraps his loving arms around Vince and you and brings you peace and comfort.

    Barb,
So sorry to hear that your hubby isn't doing good. It's so hard to watch our loved ones suffer. Try to enjoy your days with him and just be there for him.
I'll say a prayer for him and also for you so you can be strong through this ordeal.

    Dear Barb,
There is not much I can say to comfort you. You have a right to feel sad, you have been fighting this along side Vince and you wanted so much for him to get a chance at treatment. I'm So Sorry
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm praying that whatever time he has left, Hospice will be able to keep him comfortable and pain free.

Cherish every minute you have with him. And know that you are not alone, God is with you even in the bad times.

    Blessings,
    Sally

    prayers for you & Vince
    Barb,
Having had my uncle pass from this disease May 2010 and my dad being treated this year and a half, I can only imagine to feel the pain you must be feeling. This disease has no limits on the pain it can impose on a patient or family. My prayers are with you all. There are no magic words---but knowing that you are not alone may help some.

    God Bless...

    Thank you so much
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. This cancer is a beast as we all know. Our Jim is gone and now Sherri has to carry on. It is so sad.

Vince may have to have his pleura doxycyclined again tomorrow as he is still draining. If so he will have it done tomorrow and then hopefully come home on Monday. Hospice will follow.

If only he could gain back some of his strength. As some of you said hospice may be able to do that. Thank you all for your kindness.

So sorry to hear the news
    Barb,

So sorry to hear of the latest update on Vince. I remember when we were told by my dad's doctors that Hospice would be called in. It was one of the worst days of my life. I can totally relate to your sadness. Please stay strong and enjoy every minute you have with Vince. Prayers and virtual hugs coming your way, barb.

    Warmest regards,
    Melissa

    I am so sorry
    Dear Barb,

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I hope that Vince is able to come home from the hospital and gain some strength. I wish for many special days, weeks, and months for the two of you.

I know you said you are in Eugene. I do know that OHSU works miracles up on that hill in Portland. If you think it might be worth it, contact me and you could have your records sent to the nurse who works for the team that did Jim's surgery.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are in Georgia not Oregon Linda but thank you so much for telling us about Jim's surgeon. How is he feeling now? I pray that he gets thru all of this so well with his wonderful wife beside him

I so know what you mean
Barb, my heart is heavy for you: and I am so right there with you. It is so very hard to see Dale so emaciated and aged. Cancer and all that accompanies it is truly a monster. It has been nearly a year since Dales surgery and we expected him to be back on his feet. Of course, we were completely clueless about the ravages of chemo, and then a broken hip on top of that. I am sad, too as I see him struggle to get out of his chair, so weakened that I am sure there are days that he doesn't even care if he lives, even though he would never say that. Our last scans were clean, but I am so very skeptical of that. I just don't see how he can keep on losing weight and getting weaker and weaker if there isn't something going on. So I am scared, and I am sad! Thanks for letting me vent on your post. And thank God we all have each other!
