Lost at sea

Please pray for my neighbor Andy Murray and his family Jim and Steve Sanders currently considered lost at sea. They were in a small boat in big seas. It is very cold and if still alive will have been subject to the weather for three days. Andy is 34 and has been very helpful to me and my family through the years. I haven't needed to use this in many years but it has saved me on more than one occasion. I was forced to memorize it as a plebe at the Naval Academy.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep,
O hear us when we cry to thee
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at thy word,
Who walkedst on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep,
O hear us when we cry to thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace,
O hear us when we cry to thee
For those in peril on the sea!

Trio of boaters on trip absent; Coast Guard looks for men for two days
By Tonya Root and Janelle Frost

Members of the Coast Guard continued to search Friday for three people overdue from a fishing trip in the area of Winyah Bay, according to authorities.
The search began late Thursday and was expected to continue through Friday night.
Jim Sanders, 67, Steve Sanders, 44, and Andy Murray, 34, were last seen Thursday morning leaving for a fishing trip aboard a 23-foot pleasure craft from South Island Ferry Landing near Georgetown, said Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Evanson.
The trio had planned to return before sunset Thursday.
Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Rhodes said the last contact with the men was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, and they were last seen near Belle Island. There have been no reports of distress signals from the men.
"They're overdue, and it's a concern," said Rhodes, who said the Sanderses are father and son and Murray is a family friend.
A 25-foot rescue boat crew from the Georgetown Coast Guard station, a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Charleston, and members of the state's Department of Natural Resources and Georgetown County Sheriff's Office are searching for the trio.
Two planes, one from the Coast Guard and one from DNR, are flying offshore searching for the boaters, Rhodes said Friday.

    John,
I am praying for your neighbor and his family. I can only imagine how scary it must be to have someone lost at sea. I am praying they find them.

Oh, me. I'm so sorry about this . I pray for a happy outcome. We sing the verses you quoted as a hymn sometimes. It's one of my favorites.

    Search suspended
"After searching extensively for six days, we are confident that we have exhausted all reasonable search efforts to find the missing men," Capt. Peter Brown, Coast Guard District Seven chief of response said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sanders and Murray families during this difficult time."

The Coast Guard said multiple agencies searched for approximately 172 hours and covered around 43,000 square miles, which is an area about the same size as the State of Virginia.

Prayers for the families and friends who are feeling the loss.
