Just want to share something good

Yesterday morning I got a really big and unexpected surprise. Out of the blue I got a phone call from someone that I was friends with in high school. She said that she and 2 of our other friends had been trying to find me for years. I have not seen or spoken to any of them in 40+ years. I told her the reason they couldn't find me was because I am hiding in the woods in Oregon and they are still in NJ. Today I got an e-mail from one of the other ones. I still can't believe it!

    Oh my that is such a wonderful happening! I know I reconnected with an old elementary/hs friend about 5 years ago and we still make sure to have lunch together twice a year. I am happy for you I hope you get a chance to meet with them someday.

    It's great that your friends were so determined to find you... and even better ... the fact that they DID find you.

    I'm 66. Originally from Indiana ... Married when I was 20 ... moved around the US with my "then husband" ... was divorced ("dumped") at 41 in Louisiana. Then ... about 10 years ago moved back "home." Since then 6 of us "girls" from high school have "reunited" and it has been such a blessing. We try to get together at least once a month ... and there are ALWAYS many laughs. Four of us have known each other since elementary school ... so there are many memories ... but mostly we've decided that we are getting soooooo old ... our memories are getting fuzzy ... so we just make up stuff ... and laugh. I can't tell you what an "upper" it was to meet for breakfast on a Saturday morning while I was going through treatment. The laughs and togetherness was some of the best medicine I could have gotten.

    Enjoy your reunion with your friends ... even if it is by email or phone ...

    good news is great..
    I too found 3 past friends I had not seen in over 30 yrs and we reunited (happen to live in same county still and never knew it) anyhow we get together ONCE a month..and never miss it...(for over year going strong)

    IT"S a great feeling and like we never skipped 30+ year...

    I HOPE you get to stay connected....nothing better then old friends...(our group went to school from Kindergarten -graduation)

    HOPE YOU have as much fun as I have with old friends....!!!!

    Thank you all for sharing .. I admit that I have 2 girlfriends from when I was about 16 years of age .. we have stayed connected via the phone, letters or internet for 25 years .. 1 left California to find herself and settled in Russia, then Australia .. the other remained closed to Mom.

    My friend in Australia and I speak every week on the phone for hours, and have for years! Friends make all the difference in our lives - during the good, bad and ugly times.

    Isn't it wonderful to re-connect with old friends. So nice to catch up too--to see who's been doing what for the past years. Glad you had this good thing happen and I hope you all stay in touch now.

    ladyg, sometimes those "old" friends really are the best friends, glad they found you. It makes me want to search for a few that I haven't heard from in a very long time.

    Am so happy for you, Georgia! Had a similar experience last year, with my best friend ever from high school. She had moved out of state, very far away, decades ago. We lost touch...

    Last May - she was here (unusual & doesn't happen often, at all), for just a long weekend, family affair. We met, had lunch, and both wished we had more time together! The years melted away, and we were right back where we began. Have remained in close contact since.

    BELIEVE IT! :-)

    Georgia... how wonderful!!!! That must be so exciting to get back in touch after so many years... I have always taught my children a song (from "we sing sillyville") ... Make new friends but keep the old one is silver and the others gold)... how true true true!
