I've been off the board for a few months. Did Dr. Lenz get his clinical trial going? Anyone participating? Very curious! Traci

    Dr. Lenz:
Dr. Lenz is in California. Yes, a colorectal cancer expert. Go to the Colon Cancer Coalition where you can read lots of stuff on and also authored by Dr. Lenz. I think Lisa42 and Kathleen's husband **** have consulted with Dr. Lenz. You can send them a PM for further information.

If you have never logged on to he Colon Cancer Coalition do so, they are a wealth of information on colorectal cancer. If you wish to join, do so, like here it costs nothing.

    consulted about the trial
    Hi Traci,

Hope you are doing well. Anyhow, I did go see Dr. Lenz on Nov 22nd about the clinical trial (forgot the actual name of it) which was for the clinical trial that he spoke of on his blog with a drug that is supposed to target the cancer stem cells. I was very excited at the possibility, but when I saw Dr. Lenz, he told me I am still better off on what I'm already on than to change to something unknown. He said he definitely believes in the drug, but since it was a phase I trial, that means they can only give the one drug and not combine it with anything else. He feels combining it with another chemo would be best for me, but he cannot do it in this phase I trial. I felt let down after hearing that because I feel like my cancer has been advancing on what I've been on (Gemzar, Avastin, Xeloda). Dr. Lenz did not agree- he said having most everything stay stable on the CT except one small lung nodule that doubled in size was not considered disease advancement. He told me he would only consider it disease advancement if new nodules had popped up which they hadn't as of my last scan, thank goodness. Also, the trial still has not gotten started- they were told then that it might be mid January & I haven't heard anything more about it since. Now I'm due for another scan & hopefully it won't show new nodules but if it does, then I'll see if this might be something for me.

    thanks for the info
I've been wondering what is up with the clinical trial and with you. I'm glad you don't have new nodules and will keep my fingers crossed that your next scan shows the same. I know that dr. Lenz wants to get this clinical trial going. I hope it gets started soon. Thanks again for the info, Traci
