It’s a Christmas Miracle!!!!! I went to my Onc.this morning for blood work, and she told me that upon further review, I don’t need the spinal tap!!!!!!!!!!!! She called my Doctor at Univ. of Penn. and told her that since I’m out of treatment and there was nothing in the spinal fluid, the treatment can do more harm then good at this point!!!!!!!! She agreed! Wahoo!!! My blood counts are still low, but that’s expected. PET scan next month……………….. Merry Christmas to me!!!! LOL

Hi Vinnie, I know how upset you were. Yes, yes, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you and family. One more big step, pet scan next month. I am having a pet scan dec 27, and will see the oncologist jan 3, 2011 for the results.

I wish everyone a blessed holiday. Maggie

If anyone can advise me how to shorten this DX, I would appreciate.

HI Maggie
I was diagnosed 8/23/10 with low grade Stage 1EA NHL. The only tumor is around my righ kidney. I am in a watch & wait mode. Was this your case as well? The initial biopsy was unable to subtype me. SInce it is around my right kidney, so far it is felt unnecessary to redo the bx. I am not sure if that is because to get enough tissue they wold have to do an open surgical procedure & not just a core biopsy. I meet w my oncologist 2/28 & we will discuss this. Stanford felt it best not to do radiation due to the kidney damage it would cause.

WOuld love to hear more about your story.
Aloha

Hi Kathy,

Back in Sept 09 I was feeling great, happy, and looking forward to the future. Then it happened. One Saturday night I had the most horrible pain in my abdomen. No memory of pain. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I was given a CT scan, results my small bowel perforated. (As you can see, because of the serious perforation, there was enough tissue to do a thorough biopsy). They resected my small bowel. Biopsy came back NHL of the small bowel. Marginal, indolent, stage 1, low grade B Cell NHL. I later found out the sub type is: extranodal marginal zone b cell NHL. In Oct 2009 I had a bone marrow biopsy, negative for cancer. In Dec 2009 I had Rituxan treatment once weekly for 4 weeks. I had no further treatment. In June 2010 I had a colonsopy, negative. My last 2 Pet Scans, one in June 2010, and Dec 2010 was also negative. I am scheduled to see my oncologist in May 2011.

My oncologist informed me, my sub type does not require Maintenance treatment of Rituxan. I was a bit worried about that, no maintenance that is.

I will be thinking about your up and coming visit with the doctor Feb 28. I can't believe it's the end of Feb already. almost here. Please let me know the outcome. Please try and be positive. Our DX is treatable.

Love Maggie remission Jan 2011

Hi Vinny,
Thats just wonderful news! Looks like we can both sit back and relax for the next month and none too soon as far as I'm concerned. This is my pred week, so it's not much fun, but after Saturday I should be back on track and hopefully feeling much better by Christmas. Thanks for sharing the good news and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, and to all of us, a much brighter, healthier Happy New year!
Love..Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
