I am thankful for 4 days of no work, no doctor's appointments, no treatments, nothing but rest and relaxation. I am also thankful for this support community--I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, however you spend it.

    I am thankful

I am thankful for having my husband for 40 years of marriage. This is probably our last Thanksgiving together and it makes me very sad. I know there are others out there that feel the same way. I say to you all, live for today and enjoy your loved ones while they are here. Just for today there is no cancer - make today a precious memory.

I am also so thankful for the wonderful people in this support community that have gotten me through some dark days. You guys are the BEST!

    This Holiday I am Grateful
Thanksgiving is here and like every year I am trying very hard to have a grateful heart. OK... I am trying VERY HARD to fill my heart with GRATEFULNESS. MY list really is long with the things I "should" be grateful for, healthy grandchildren, healthy children, healthy pets, a job, a home, food on the table. BUT my only one wish, my only hesitation today is WHAT IF I could have this one thing last thing, only one more thing... my husband's health. The diagnosis of melanoma that devastated our lives and changed us both forever.

The holidays were also on my husband's mind at the same time as mine as he mentioned to me he was thinking of all the things he was feeling grateful for. Now this man has receive a rather life changing experience since Father's Day this year, no guarantees of freedom from this cancer ever leaving him. He turned to me and kissed me on the cheek and said I just want to thank you for being here for me and supporting me through all of this because I couldn't do this without you.

I could really feel his sincerity come from his heart all the way into my very soul. These weren't just words that were spoken to me. He was thanking me for being part his life, part of his unknown future, part of his unknown time that we will have together and that we have decided to make the best of.

    I am humbled.

    I am grateful.

I would also like to take this time to thank all of you for being here. You have listened. You have responded. You have cared.

    Last Thanksgiving
I celebrated about 5 last Thanksgivings and Christmases with my husband. We thought each one might be the last. Now they are very special memories. Some days they are what help get me through the day. This is my second holiday season without my husband of 42 years. I am thankful for the time we had and the family I still have. You are right to try to push the cancer aside for the day and try not to dwell on the what the future holds. I know it isn't easy but my wish for you is that you make wonderful memories. Fay

    The key
It's been awhile since I have posted. Really trying hard to make sense of my life. Last year was our last Thanksgiving together. This year I said the key to making it through the day was to remember to be thankful for what I have not focus on what I don't have anymore. That and a glass of wine and a rented comedy got me through this first Thanksgiving without my Dale.
