I have been on the site since a couple of years. My husband Frank was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in Aug 2006. He has his first surgery of 9-15-06. Four years and two months to the date of his first surgery, Frank went home to be with GOD!!!! He was surrounded by his family, our two sons and myself. I was holding his hand when he passed. He fought so hard and beat his prognosis by over two years. He has 5 surgeries, 2 plus years of chemo, and did three phase one clinical trials. We were married 41 yrs 8 months and 25 days. Some of you may remember my earlier post about him. I just wanted to thank each of you...you will ever know how much your post and answers to my post meant to Frank and I. A special thanks to Clift (Buzzard) Craig (Sundance) Jennie (Idlehunter) Marygale, Hop, Cheryl, Kim, Donna and Eric. We have lost too many to this disease. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers and pray that each and every one of you reach NED soon. Thanks again for being here when I needed a rope to hold on too!

It's with tears in my eyes, that I write this letter of condolence to you.
I'm so sorry for your loss, through out your time on this board, your love for your husband has shown through, some of us, could only wish for the love that you felt for your man in our own worlds.
I know your loss is profound and deep. He fought hard, and you along side him fought hard for him as well.
Anna, take care of yourself, I will think of you often.
If you want to talk, we're here.

Dear Anna

I'm so sorry that Frank has passed on - I know you both did all that you could possibly do. You sure shared a lifetime together at 41+ years.

As I sit here thinking back about the both of you, I'm reminded of a post that you sent me. You and Frank were on the way to the hospital for treatment and it was quite a long drive for you both, as I recall.

Santa Craig had just delivered your Christmas CD and you remarked to me how the both of you were enjoying hearing it as you drove on your trips to the hospital. That always made me smile and I could picture the two of you doing just that.

I'm certainly glad to have met you and have appreciated all of your kind support and words - it is my wish that you stay in touch with all of us and let us know how you're doing - we will all be concerned.

I wish there was something more I could say to help - but just know that we are all thinking of you and holding you close during this most difficult transition.

Kindest regards,

I'm so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I'm glad that you were all able to be with him in the end, and that you had so many years together, even though the final ones included fighting cancer.

May the good memories brighten your days a little as you go through this hard time of saying goodbye and adjusting to life without Frank physically present.

We're all still here for you now if you ever need that rope.

To my mom's story. She and my dad had been married a little under 41 years when she passed from this disease. I'll keep you and your sons in my thoughts today.

Anna, I'm so sorry to read of Frank's passing. He put up a brave and serious fight... and now, he is no longer in pain. But ou and your two sons have a journey ahead of you, getting used to your lives without Frank physically here with you. But he will never ever be far away. The memories you have, are memories that can never be taken away.

Anna, you are one of our family here on the CSN Board. If it isn't too painful, I hope you will continue to come back and spend time with us. You are an inspiration to the other caregivers on this board... and you will have a wealth of knowledge to share with them, as well as new caregivers who come on board, scared and wondering what they can do to help as a caregiver.

Please know we want you back here as often as you feel you can come!

I am sure that loosing your husband Frank was a terrible thing. God called his son home to rest in Heaven with no more pain and no more worries for your family. Frank rests in peace now looking down upon you and sending you kisses and thanks for 41 wonderful years of marriage. He battled this disease for 4 long years and to me cancer didn't beat him he beat cancer for he is a winner in my eyes. I am 38 and was diagnosed stage 4 in March and I am in the battle of my life but I take courage from seeing your husbands story. I know in my heart that I will beat this disease and be here to raise my little children. I must stay positive no matter what for if I let cancer have the upper hand it will win and I am not going to do that. But again prayers to your family in your lose of your husband and thank you for sharing with us her on ACS
