Well, I WANTED to be in the club of cool kids getting PET and CT scans in November. Doc's office called Friday, and told me that my insurance company will not OK a PET for tomorrow, just a CT. I'm bumming. It's my understanding that a PET will show cancer too small to show up on a CT. I was really hoping for the more detailed report. So now, I'm hoping for no PET - my insurance will approve a PET if something shows on the CT. Huh? I have to have a larger tumor to be able to get the test for a smaller one? Ah well. Breathing. Keep the good PET reports (and CTs) coming, gang.

That must be a little frustrating for you Pam. Sorry that you have to go that route. My prayers for a clean and accurate CT tomorrow. Rest easy tonight. All will be as it should in the morning.

    How Frustrating!
    Pam,

I am so sorry to hear about the insurance company problems - makes no sense whatsoever. Here is hoping for a very accurate CT, with nothing showing up. Under your circumstances, here is to no need for PET. Please know I am thinking of you and praying for you and am looking forward to hearing good news.

Hi Pam, I have developed a fairly concise summary of what is wrong with medical administration in this country; but, who wants to read a bunch of asterisks. Best of results ont the CT.

    No PET
Praying for a clean CT scan for you and that you will continue to improve and feel great. I know how frustrating it is to deal with insurance companies and wonder what their thoughts would be if it were them dealing with cancer!!

    Stay well and stay strong,

    Thank You All
I appreciate your kind thoughts, well wishes and prayers. Like many, I'm a little odd right now, noticing "weird feelings" and lumps [part of the time I tell myself the weird feelings is healing in action, and the lumps (two of them) are scar tissue and lymph fluid]. The rest of the time, I'm looking forward to celebrating good news Friday afternooon. Hope we all have a wonderful weekend.

    Hi Pam,

just wanted to let you know that I have the same problem with my insurance (aetna). I had a CT this past week instead of the Pet. It has happened To me before and all the nurse needs to do is call and explain why it is needed. They refused mine because they did not need any more evidence that cancer was present... They didn't understand it was to see if it was getting smaller! Not sure if you have the same situation but I would let your doctor know.

You are in my prayers for beautful results!!

    PET or C/T

You are right Pam the PET will show more than the C/T will, but the C/T will also show if there is a problem. All in all you are in good hands as the our Lord will be looking over you while doing the C/T

Take care and let us know how the C/T goes

    MRI, CT or PET?
Hmm..seems like there are many protocols.
Mine was PET at diagnosis and PET 3 months after end of treatment, now 6 months post 9 months post tx an MRI... what do you think. Decision is Doctor based vs insurance based..
