Hi all- I wanted to share a quick update on my mom & her treatment. Yesterday she had her 3rd of 6 chemo treatments, so she's at the halfway point!! She has just 1 more AC treatment, then she'll have 2 treatments of Taxotere. I had the exact same chemo regimen & had a MUCh easier time with the taxotere. I took her to treatment yesterday, on our way there she asked me if I could take her to a shoe store afterwards, they had some cute boots on sale she wanted to look at. Well, after no luck at the shoe store, she wanted to go next door to Old Navy, and yet another store after that!! I was wore out afterwards!! I'm so happy to see her doing so well - she had a terrible time with her first chemo.
Because of the steroids, she does really well for about 3 days after chemo, she's just exhausted after that, and she gets a bit more nausea than I did, but she's never actually vomited from it, and she has managed to keep her weight steady & is eating alot of healthy, small snacks through the day. She's not looking forward to having to go for radiation every day but we'll get through it!
Thank you to you all who have sent her beautiful cards, letters, gifts, and asked me about her. We talk all the time about what's going on with all of you on the boards!
*hugs*
Heather

I am happy to read that your mom is handling chemo like a true warrior. Now, you better rest up so you can keep up with her. LOL! Sounds like you blazed the trail for her and I'm sure provided all your wisdom along the way. Hoping she continues to tolerate the rest of her treatments as well.

Your Mom Gives Me a Chuckle
I love hearing that an older woman can wear out a younger woman. She must have a lot of stamina. Happy to hear that she is eating healthy. She is your role model, though you quite possibly are her role model for the cancer. It is great to hear how devoted you are to your mother. Hugs to both of you.

    Fondly,
    Janelle

    Glad to hear
she's doing well. The halfway point is such a great milestone to reach. It really makes you feel like you can do the rest. Can't remember if you did rads too, but except for the pain of having to go every day, it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks for updating us on how she's doing and send our love and good thoughts to her.

PS it was cute to hear that you were more tired shopping than she was. : )

I'll bet she'll do good with Radiation.

Thank you all for your concern about my mom :) She's feeling pretty tired today. I think she'll be pretty worn out until shes done with her last AC - that's how I was from #3 and 4.
I didn't have rads, but I'll be mom's "rad coach" too & taking her to her treatments. I've been reading up as much as I can so I can help prepare her for it & help her out with any side effects that might pop up.
Thanks for sharing in my exchange surgery excitement! 2 and 1/2 days left! My husband will take very good care of me, like he has throughout all of this! I also have friends volunteering to help watch the girls, and an aunt who lives just a few minutes away who's going to come help out too.
I'm getting more & more stubbles on my head, too, and Ive got some new eyelashes coming in (i lost about 2/3 of them during chemo)
    *hugs*
