Just wanted to post a link to an article that came out last week relating to livers being created in the lab at Wake Forrest. Does not look like it is quite ready for humans but certainly promising for the future. http://singularityhub.com/2010/11/02/wake-forest-creates-first-liver-in-lab-using-human-cells/

    I saw that too
Now if the can add that to genetically modified onions, we'd have a meal! ;-)

Cwork, it really is amazing what they are able to do in the lab. This shows promise to many just as they have done in the past like growing skin for helping burn victims and even the whole field of stem cell research and growing organs. Of course stem cell research opens a can of genetically modified worms...

I truly believe we are very fortunate to live in these times as far as medical advances go. Thanks for the post

PS: Just a suggestion, one of our members, Hatshepsut, started this great idea of putting the words "Reading Room:" before the name of your topic in your post. This way people can do a search on Reading Room posts and then sort through them. It really helps with organizing posts for future reference. FYI: You can edit your original post by going to the post and selecting the "Edit" tab. Then just add Reading Room in the front and hit submit.
Just a thought, your post is great.
    ;-)
