Every chemo treatment is different

Hi, Folks,

Thanks, Sue for checking me out last week! Been exhausted and busy healing.. I had anxiety going into the infusion room last week because the tx before that my body had 6 days of constant chemo effects - non-stop (I bawled and my hubby actually had to coax me to go to the infusion room.) But this time, no heavy beating on my body which I am so GLAD. Am just experiencing fatigue, weakness, and a cold that would not go away (I thought it went away but it came back) keep getting small blood clots coming out of my nose plus indigestion problems. Now it is my leg cramp - last night at 3 am, I freaked out wondering if I have a blood clot so checked out the info - no, it is probably not that (phlebitis as it is called). Anyone had these problems? I am learning how to use saline spray and am now on Sudafed - seems to be working. I was told to stop taking Ibuprophen because of blood clotting issues. Well, tomorrow will be my blood work and I will see how my counts do.

One thing that startles me is that I have lost my muscle mass and am really bony. Always on off weeks, I eat a lot more... anyway, I try to do a bit of weight training when my energy holds up. I did light housework so that was good. Meanwhile, I am enjoying the fall colors and looking at the winds blowing the leaves away.

With positive thoughts,
Liz

    Let us know
    Hi Liz,
If you are feeling up to it let us know how your labs come out. I'll be thinking positive thoughts! Sorry about the darn cold coming back...it's that time of year and seems like everyone is coughing, sneezing or blowing their nose...UGH! I'm tired as the dickins after last round...sore and achey also. It looks like snow is headed to the valley, so I'm hunkered down in my comfy chair and a book.
    Love...Sue.(FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Blood result info
Thanks, Vinny for the tip - my onc did suggest the same thing!

Sue, I also feel hunkered down in my house protecting myself from the world. I just got off the videophone yakking with my jr. high school old chum which was real nice. Love seeing her on the video screen acting as if she is here in person!

I got the results of the blood work: WBC and RBC as expected went down. But with a surprise, I was advised to get a blood transfusion because of the anemia that is getting worse for me. The numbers were
RBC: 3.12; HGB: 8.6; HCT: 26.6. I took this advice because I barely could walk without feeling exhausted and the aches in my legs. Today at the grocery store, I could not walk to the back to keep up with my hubby without feeling dizzy and needing to stop for a break. Vinny, have you had any blood transfusions? Will have that this Friday for the first time. How long will that take? I will have 2 units..

Cannot wait to get my energy back - be thinking of you.
    Hugs,
    Liz
